Wine in Wien

Yay! Tina has finally arrived. I met her at the train station at 6am. We unloaded her luggage at the flat and headed out to find coffee and food.

We ended up at a cute cafe.

The town was quite empty and covered in snow.

We made our way to the Leopold museum, and saw the exhibit with Schiele and Klimt. Schiele is Tina's favorite artist and was her inspiration in college.

We went outside and walked through the Christmas market and had some Glüwein. Tina's first.

Much needed as it was freezing.

We walked further into the heart of the city and found the library...

And had some Glüwein to go.

We went into the inside of the cathedral. It was insane.

Plenty of horse carriages outside.

We made our way to an Australian pub to have a beer and warm up. After that we strolled back to the Christmas market and had more Gluwein and got some mugs to take home. Then it got really cold. We walked as fast as we could to get back to the flat, fingers frozen. Once we arrived we both laid down under jackets and blankets and passed out for a few hours.

Luckily I set an alarm so we would wake up for dinner. We headed to a cute place down the street and ate fried Brie and cheesy pasta...

We hit up the pub next door for a night cap.

The next morning we decided to go to the famous cemetery in Vienna. It is Huge. Look it up on a map, insanely huge.

We saw maybe 5% of it.

Beethoven is buried there...as well as Mozart.

We made it back to the flat, stoping for cheese and wine along the way. Made it on the train with 5 minutes to spare.

This is what €18 of cheese and wine look like. It was a nice way to spend the ride to Prague.

Ciao, bye.

Cheers to cheese plates and blood sausages! 🍻

I decided to make my way to Mitte. It was a beautiful day for a walk.

There was affects of last night's snow.

I had a cheese plate for breakfast :)

And started walking to no where in particular.

I ended up at Bernauer Crossing. The site of the beginning and the end of the Berlin Wall. It started dusting with snow.

The following day I began my trek to prague to meet up with Tina to then head on immediately to Vienna.

It was a gorgeous train ride.

Unfortunately, Tina's flight was canceled. Then her next flight was canceled. 6 hours later she got on a 12 hour train to meet me in Vienna at 6 am.

I arrived in Vienna around 9:30pm and went to a local shop for dinner. It was delicious. I tried blood sausage for the first time and the owner and his adorable 14 year old son talked to me for hours.

Cheers to seeing Tina tomorrow!

Frohe Weihnachten 🎄

Merry Christmas! I woke up in Berlin to a cold, not snowy day. Having read about two great places, the Bretzel Bar, and the Christmas market at Charlottenburg Palace, I decided to spend my Christmas at those two places.

I first headed to the Bretzel Bar.

It unfortunately was closed, but the Espresso Lounge was open! I enjoyed a hot cappacino and a scone.

Then I began my ~7 mile walk to Charlettenburg. I spent the majority of this walk on the river. It was beautiful. And cold.

Once I entered the the path through the Tiergarden, I noticed Kangaroos to my right!

After passing the Kangaroos, I heard music and saw some lights. In the middle of the park, there was a small gathering drinking Glüwein and playing ice bocce ball!

I was very glad I walked, I would have missed all of the beauty underground on a subway.

I was ecstatic to find the Christmas market open! It was incredible and very large. I tried some white Glüwein (even more delicious!), had a brawt, and listen to beautiful music.

It was directly in front of this beautiful palace!
